The box arrived in the mail simultaneously today AND two days prior to the day after tomorrow. Phillip mulled the possible meaning of this apparent fold in time before realizing that the universe still existed and therefore rendered his fears and vexation moot.
He stopped pondering and opened the box. Inside was the letter "see". This is not to say that it was an item in the shape of the letter "see". It was not made of wood, leather, polymers or rare metals. It was not merely printed or stamped on an appropriate medium.
It was THE letter "see": the real thing. The original, not one of the trillions of representations and fakes that mankind has forged over the millenia.
Phillip wondered what this would do to language. With the original no longer floating around in the universe, would the letter lose it's power?
He rang up his grandfather and explained the situation.
"Don't worry about it." the old man said. "I had something similar happen to me when I was your age and no one has missed the letter 'grank' in subsequent years."
"There is no letter 'grank'."
"Not anymore."
